Oops Moment: The Case of the Mismatched Months
I’m planning a summer trip and feeling pretty organized, so I decide to book a beautiful beachfront hotel for June. I find the perfect place, all the right amenities, and a fantastic ocean view—score! I fill out the booking info, confirm my dates, and even brag to my friends about this “genius-level” planning.
Fast forward to my travel day in June. I roll up to the hotel, bags in tow, practically tasting the sea breeze already. But the receptionist is giving me that “uh-oh” look.
“Sir,” she says gently, “we don’t have a reservation under your name… for June. It’s actually for September.”
Turns out, in my excitement, I booked the exact right dates, just for the wrong month! And now here I am, standing in the lobby, staring at my confirmation email and realizing my big “summer trip” won’t be happening for another three months.
Long story short, I end up booking a last-minute stay at a budget hotel down the road, with a great view… of the parking lot.
